An Industry Insights Session was conducted on 16 April 2026 featuring Prof. Shripad P. Mahulikar, Ikerbasque Professor at the University of the Basque Country (EHU), Spain, and former Professor at IIT Bombay.
The lecture, titled “Radiation Entropy Generation by a Leaf and Negentropy Build-Up of a Plant,” introduced participants to the thermodynamic foundations of photosynthesis and the role of radiation entropy generation in understanding plant growth as a dissipative structure. The session highlighted how entropy-based approaches can provide useful perspectives on energy transformation processes in natural systems.
Faculty members and undergraduate engineering students attended the session and interacted with the speaker on theoretical aspects linking thermodynamics, energy systems, and biological processes.
Such invited lectures support ongoing academic engagement with international experts and contribute to broadening exposure to emerging topics in thermodynamics and interdisciplinary engineering science.
