About the Department
At the Mechanical Engineering Department, students gain the skills, confidence, and technical insight needed to build a successful engineering career. The programme fosters hands-on learning, teamwork, and creative problem-solving through a supportive and engaging environment. Learners develop strong practical competencies, work on real-world challenges, and build meaningful connections with industry partners—preparing them to design impactful engineering solutions for a rapidly evolving world.

Academic Programmes
The BE programme provides a strong foundation in design, manufacturing, thermal sciences, and materials engineering. Through modern laboratories and project-based learning, students develop practical competencies, analytical thinking, and essential problem-solving skills.
Work is underway to expand academic offerings with specialised graduate programmes. These upcoming pathways will strengthen advanced learning, research engagement, and professional expertise in emerging areas of mechanical engineering and allied fields.

Research and development activities emphasize innovation, applied engineering, and industry-linked problem-solving. Students participate in design challenges, technical projects, and hands-on investigations, often earning competitive grants for their work. Faculty–student teams actively contribute to publications and technical studies, advancing practical engineering solutions and supporting wider technological progress.
Merit Scholarships
Each semester, the top four students are recognized with prizes, certificates, medals, and cash awards from the Mrs. Shashikanta Memorial Foundation in appreciation of outstanding academic performance. Additional scholarships and funding opportunities are also available through ASHRAE and industry partners, supporting student excellence and professional development.
