ASHRAE Leadership Travel Award Reflects the Culture of Excellence in the Mechanical Engineering Department

The Mechanical Engineering Department is pleased to share that Kinga Wangchuk, a Mechanical Engineering student, has been selected to receive a travel award to attend the 2026 Women in ASHRAE Leadership Symposium, scheduled for April 13–14, 2026, in Los Angeles, California, USA.

The award supports participation in the symposium by covering conference registration and contributing toward travel, accommodation, meals, and related expenses. This opportunity enables students to engage with global leadership discussions, professional networking, and knowledge exchange within the international ASHRAE community.

The selection was formally communicated through an email from Ms. Ragan McHan, CMP, Senior Manager at ASHRAE, who noted that the award is intended to enrich recipients’ academic and professional development through exposure to international leadership platforms.

This achievement builds on the department’s recent engagement with ASHRAE at the international level. Earlier, the immediate past President of the ASHRAE CST Student Branch, Ms. Jamyang Choden, received a fully funded travel grant to attend the ASHRAE Winter Conference in the United States. Together, these outcomes reflect a consistent culture of professional engagement and leadership development encouraged within the Mechanical Engineering community.

The Mechanical Engineering Department congratulates Kinga Wangchuk on this achievement and appreciates the continued efforts of students involved in professional societies, whose participation strengthens academic exposure and global outlook.
