The Department of Mechanical Engineering had the honour of hosting Prof. Bhuvan Unhelkar, Professor of Information Technology at the University of South Florida (USF), USA, during his visit to our ME workshop and academic spaces.
Dean Prof. Agarwal warmly welcomed him and shared the inspiring journey of the department—highlighting its culture of innovation, resilience, and the strong moral character demonstrated by our students. He also outlined the department’s long-term vision and the transformative role Mechanical Engineering can play in shaping a skilled, future-ready Bhutan.
Assistant Lecturer Mr. Tenzin, along with Ms. Jamyang Choden (ASHRAE-CST Student Branch President) and Ms. Namgyel Pellha, presented an engaging overview of the department’s student achievements, hands-on projects, training initiatives, and community contributions. Their interaction showcased the rich learning environment cultivated within CST’s Mechanical Engineering program.
Prof. Unhelkar shared insightful perspectives on Artificial Intelligence, data innovation, and engineering excellence, offering students a forward-looking understanding of emerging technologies. He also extended a warm invitation for future student visits, collaborations, and academic exchanges with the University of South Florida, reinforcing the importance of global exposure and interdisciplinary learning.
The session was enriching and motivating, opening doors to new international opportunities and strengthening CST’s growing global academic network.
