Orientation Program: Dean Welcomes New ME Students with Vision and Inspiration

During the Orientation Program, Dean, Prof. Agarwal, warmly welcomed the incoming first-year Mechanical Engineering students and introduced them to the exciting academic journey awaiting them at CST. His address set a strong foundation for the semester, offering clarity, motivation, and a sense of purpose to the newest members of the ME community.

Prof. Agarwal highlighted the key strengths of the Mechanical Engineering program, including scholarship opportunities, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, hands-on training modules, and an industry-linked curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with real-world skills. He explained how these components are designed to prepare students for meaningful engineering careers in Bhutan and beyond.

Connecting the program’s vision to the broader national context, Prof. Agarwal emphasized that the department’s mission aligns closely with His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck’s aspiration for a self-driven, skill-based, and innovative Bhutan. He underscored the importance of strong fundamentals, interdisciplinary thinking, and the upcoming initiatives aimed at fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving mindsets among students.

He encouraged the newcomers to stay engaged, collaborate with peers and faculty, and contribute meaningfully to national development—highlighting that the Mechanical Engineering community, together with the CST ASHRAE Student Branch, continues to play a vital role in empowering Bhutan’s next generation of engineers.

The session concluded with an optimistic outlook for the semester, inspiring students to learn with curiosity, work with dedication, and grow into engineers who create solutions that matter.
