Mechanical Engineering Scholars Undertake Advanced Research Internship at UGC-DAE Consortium, India

The Mechanical Engineering Department is pleased to share that Mr. Sangay Tenzin and Mr. Tshering Dorji, are currently undertaking a research-based internship at the UGC–DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, University Campus, Indore, India.

Under the guidance of Dr. Shukla (Scientist-F), the interns are gaining exposure to advanced research methodologies, experimental practices, and scientific problem-solving in a nationally significant research environment. This experience allows them to connect theoretical foundations with applied research, strengthening their academic depth and research readiness.

Established in 1990, the UGC–DAE Consortium for Scientific Research plays a key role in advancing science and engineering research within Indian universities. The Consortium provides access to major facilities of the Department of Atomic Energy, including the Synchrotron Radiation Source at RRCAT, Indore, the Dhruva Reactor at BARC, Mumbai, VECC, Kolkata, and IGCAR, Kalpakkam. Through these collaborations, it supports high-quality research training and academic–industry integration.

Both scholars have demonstrated consistent academic performance and were previously recognised by the Mrs. Shashi Kanta Memorial Foundation, India for their achievements. Their selection for this research internship reflects their commitment to learning and the department’s emphasis on academic rigour, research exposure, and professional development.

Dean Prof. Agarwal conveyed his best wishes to the students for a productive and enriching research experience. The Mechanical Engineering Department appreciates their efforts and looks forward to the knowledge and experience they will bring back to strengthen the academic and research culture of the department.
