Mechanical Engineering Students Honored for Outstanding Academic Merit by Shashikanta Memorial Foundation

The Mechanical Engineering Department proudly celebrated the academic excellence of four exceptional students—Mr. Cheten Dorji (Gold Medal), Mr. Dipen Subba, Mr. Sangay Tenzin, and Mr. Pemba—who were recognized for their outstanding academic performance by the Mrs. Shashikanta Memorial Foundation, India.

The award package included medals, certificates, gifts, and cash prizes, presented in the presence of President Dr. Cheki Dorji and Dean Prof. Agarwal, who commended the students for their dedication, discipline, and commitment to high scholastic achievement. Their accomplishments reflect the strong academic culture within the Mechanical Engineering Department.

As active members of the ASHRAE–CST Bhutan Student Branch, all four awardees have also demonstrated exemplary leadership, technical involvement, and initiative—setting strong benchmarks for their peers in engineering professionalism, innovation, and community engagement.

In his remarks, Prof. Agarwal encouraged students to draw inspiration from the awardees, fondly describing them as the “diamonds of the department.” He emphasized that consistency, hard work, and clarity of purpose are essential for engineers who aspire to contribute meaningfully to Bhutan’s development.

The Department expresses heartfelt appreciation to the Shashikanta Memorial Foundation for supporting academic excellence and motivating future engineers. Recognitions such as these help strengthen the learning ecosystem and inspire students to pursue both personal and professional growth.

This achievement stands as a shining example for the entire Mechanical Engineering community, motivating others to strive for excellence in academics, character, and leadership.
